Information as a Resource

For a number of reasons, media and information have a significant impact on communication. For example, consider how many different types of media a person consumes on a daily basis.

Within a few seconds, one could learn new information, receive an important email, hear a Billboard-topping song on the radio, and answer to an emoji text message. Media and information are what defines communication and it is capable of delivering messages through a wide range of platforms, such as text messaging, social media, and more recently, video conferencing.

According to National Association for Media Literacy Education, the capacity to use all kinds of communication to access, assess, create, and act is known as media literacy. Information is available everywhere in the world in a wide range of tools and formats. With so many sources of information available today, media literacy can assist people in identifying credible sources from false information. Being unaware of the developments in our media creates a concern since it makes people more susceptible to swindles and scams, especially those who lack media literacy (FINRA.org, 2019).

Knowing the proper steps to being media and information literate and investing the time to learn them will help you greatly and ensure your safety.

Most importantly, the advantages of media literacy encompass that it will enable us to use numerous digital tools and formats in our day-to-day activities, such as job and personal life, to enhance the quality of our lives in the future.

Overall, media in all its various forms are altering how we view and communicate with one another. With the emergence of technology, the enormous world is also changing rapidly thanks to the availability of unlimited knowledge and fresh options for media exploration. A continuum of learning exists and new opportunities are waiting.
